We're locked in a room? Really?

By fire code we cannot actually lock the door to your room, but we design unique and fun ways to have you escape, giving you the feeling you are locked-in. The escape room is also monitored on closed circuit video and audio. You can communicate with the Game Master at any time.

Is it scary? Is it dark?

It depends on the theme but most of our games are not dark or scary - Chainsaw and Darkroom are the exceptions. Take a look at the videos on our rooms page for a better idea of what to expect.

Are there any stage effects used?

Smoke and flickering lights may be used in the rooms, depending on the theme. (NO STROBE LIGHTS)

How long will we be in the Escape Room?

It will take 10 minutes to explain the rules and 60 minutes to play the game, except for the 30 minute options with Darkroom and Lost Keys.

Is it good for kids?

Most room themes are designed with elements for all ages to participate fully. However, there are no "beginner" rooms, so children 12 and under must play with at least one adult on their team. Families are welcomed and encouraged to create a winning team.

Do I need to wear anything special?

We suggest that you wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Do you laugh at us?

Actually, your Game Master is rooting for you and we enjoy watching people succeed. We are mostly concerned with you following the rules and having a good time, not mocking your team. We enjoy promoting a positive experience and hope you will escape.

Do we get clues?

Yes, you have the option to get 3 clues. While you are directed to ask for them as needed your Game Master may take the liberty of giving you one when they feel you would best benefit from it. If you end up getting extra clues for any reason it does disqualify you from the leader board.

What if I get claustrophobic or need to use the bathroom?

The door remains unlocked at all times. If you need to step out for any reaso,n you may do so and then rejoin your team at any time. Just don't be gone too long because your team will need your brain power! If you can handle being in a small apartment you will have no issue being in our rooms.

What if we don't escape?

Your Game Master will come in and and answer some of your lingering questions. We encourage you to come back and try again!

If you call and no one answers, someone will respond within one business day. You'll get the fastest response by emailing us.

Booking FAQs

Do you need to make a reservation?

Yes, although you can still play the same day because bookings only need to be made up to 2 hours in advance.

Can we pay when we get there?

Payment must be made in order to secure the date and time of your reservation. A deposit must at least be made on the room to book it. Call to make arrangements. I do not encourage this. Please call to inquire if you need to make other arrangements. If any remaining balance is to be paid in person you must arrive early or the time it takes to pay will cut into your playing time.

Can I bring a friend without a ticket?

Unfortunately, no. We have set capacities for each room reserved. To check on availability of spots in your room, call the location you will be visiting.

What's the least amount of players you allow?

You'll need a minimum of 2 players. Games that do not have at least 2 people 4 hours before start time will be notified and subject to cancellation. Of course with 2 players the games are very difficult to successfully escape in 30 or 60 minutes. We want to provide a positive, fun, and challenging experience for all participants. With only 2 players, the challenges can present as difficult and frustrating, which isn't our intention.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants?

The recommended minimum in a group is 4 but the minimum to book is 1. Apocalypse, the Cell, and Darkroom are the best rooms to attempt to play as a couple. The recommended number of players for most rooms is 6-8, but arrangements can be made for larger groups in certain rooms. We highly recommend splitting into separate teams when there are above 8 players. Some of the rooms will allow for more than 8 participants, and if you would like more participants than our booking system allows, please contact us.

What if we have a group larger than you can fit in one room?

You'll have to divide yourselves into groups and book multiple rooms, you must purchase the appropriate amount of available times to book back-to-back sessions. It's perfect for competition! Please contact us if you would like assistance booking a large group.

What if I want to play only with my group?

Each game has a maximum number of tickets that can be purchased for each session. If your group does not purchase all of the tickets for an available session, the remaining tickets are still available for purchase by other individuals; you may be paired with additional players.

How far in advance can I purchase a ticket?

Sessions are available for bookings six months in advance. If you want to book much farther in advance, please call us for assistance.

Do you have a waiting list if a team doesn't show up or cancels?

To be put on a wait list, email us at info@trappedcle.com with a contact number, number in your party, and dates/times.

Can we come here for team building outside of regular business hours?

I want to have a birthday party for my son/daughter, do you have space for that? Can we bring food?

Yes, we have a party room for rent at each location. Please vist our Parties & Private Events page for more information.

Can you add a special message or clue to our private event?

Absolutely! First, reserve a room entirely for your group, and make a note in the comments section of your reservation. We will take care of the rest! If you want to put something physical in there (like a ring), either arrange to drop it off beforehand or slip it to one of our employees at check-in.

Are tickets refundable?

You can change your reservation up to 48 hours before your reservation by contacting us at info@trappedcle.com. There are no changes or cancellations within 48 hours of your reservation. There are NO refunds or reducing the numbers of players after booking, so make sure you plan you team accordingly.

After Booking FAQs

Do I need to print out the waiver to bring it with me?

You do not need to print anything. Please fill it out online, and we will check it for completion during check-in.

If I am booking for myself and my kids (minors) do I need to do a waiver for everyone?

Yes, every person playing must have their own, individual waiver.

Where do I park?

Broadview Heights and Middleburg Heights locations have free parking. Parking at the Clevelnd Heights location is metered. We recommend parking inside the parking garage next to Marc's as the meters have a 6 hr limit and there is a change machine on the first floor. The rate is 50 cents/hour.

What if I am late to my session?

While you'll still be admitted, we encourage teams to show up a bit early to find parking and walk to our location. You have an allotted time slot and will have your remaining time to play, so the next group can begin on time.
